Just a Weekend Trip

June 22, 2025

One of my favorite things to do during the summer is simply to take a weekend trip. There is something about getting in your car and driving to another state or a few hours across Pennsylvania with no set plans that just feels right. With the Westmoreland County Airshow in Latrobe, PA bringing performers such as the Class of ‘45, the Viper Demo Team, and Canada’s Snowbirds, the 100th Anniversary show was something I planned on attending for a while.
Driving four hours across the state for an airshow might not be for everyone, but with time to kill and Pittsburgh only another hour west, there was plenty to do. Once the airshow had concluded it was off to Pittsburgh. Walking Point State Park and finally making it up to the Grandview Overlook after years of visiting the city. While two stops may be enough for some, one last one had to be made in Loretto, PA. A quick visit to the former estate of Charles M. Schwab and a walk around the town capped off the first three-day road trip of the summer.
